Many students struggle with identifying good transition words when they begin new paragraphs. The following links should bring you to websites that have good, reliable transitions that are significantly better than the likes of "to begin," "First," "Second," "Last," and "In Conclusion."
Review these transition words and take some notes on ones which appeal to you. Be sure that you identify what they mean before you write them down, though!

DO:
Have a clear and strong introduction. What is this paper going to be about?
Answer the question fully.
Stick to the topic.
Make sure it is properly organized.
Have clear supports with every claim you make.
Use MLA format!
-If typed: Times New Roman, 12pt Font, 1in Margins, Double Spaced
-If handwritten: The same above applies in addition to being done in blue of black pen.
DON'T:
Use the phrases:
-I think
-I believe
-In my opinion
-If I had to choose
Avoid using contractions. Write out all words.
Answer a question not on the prompt.
